Voted #1 Destination Marathon for State of Hawaii by Trip Advisor in 2015

Founded in 1994, the 23rd annual Kona Marathon is held at the Waikoloa Beach Resort along the Kohala Coast on the Kona side of the Big Island of Hawaii. The Marathon course has some moderate hills, never exceeding 290 feet above sea level with gentle climbs and drops.

In 2015 we introduced our new host hotel, the world-class Hilton Waikoloa Village. It is conveniently located near the Start and Finish of all the Kona Marathon events at the Waikoloa Bowl at Queen's Garden adjacent to the Queens’ MarketPlace. The new venue will allow the event to continue to grow well into the future.

Kona Marathon is the Big Island’s premiere running event with over 2,000 participants, offering four road race distances; Marathon, Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon and 5K. In addition, during race week we present the Kona Commons Aloha Keiki Run (kids) and a Health & Fitness Fair.

The Health & Fitness Fair is a fun all-day family friendly event that is open to the public at no charge. Held in the Hilton Waikoloa Village Convention Center, the fair has over 30 booths, entertainment, speaker's series and food. The Fair also serves as packet and race number pick-up for all participating in the Kona Marathon Events.
