Lake Tahoe Marathon

Join Les and Buffy in Bhutan

Hello, this is Les and Buffy Wright, the directors of the Maui Oceanfront and Lake Tahoe Marathons.

We would personally like to invite you to join an exclusive trip and run of a lifetime to the mysterious country of Bhutan February 28 - March 6, 2018.

My wife and I are experienced world travelers having visited 89 different countries and just crossed Bhutan off our bucket list last March. Bhutan is a special place and hosts a special marathon and half.

The week-long event features a retreat with running legend Scott Jurek and culminates with the running of the Bhutan International Marathon.

We have been allocated 10 places for this great trip. If you would like to join our group from Tahoe and Maui, please reserve your trip with us soon.

October 13-15, 2017

Location:

Lake Tahoe, California, USA

Races:

Marathon, 4-Person Relay, 16.6-miler, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K Run/Walk, Triple Marathon, 72 mile Ultra-Marathon, & Duathlon.

True Boston Qualifier – USA Track & Field Certified Course.

Welcome to 3 days of running, swimming, and kayaking. We have something for your whole family, club or group of friends at one of the most beautiful vacation destinations in the world. Our competitors range from toddlers to octogenarians, and our venues are breathtakingly beautiful.

While various events run all week long, the Lake Tahoe Marathon itself starts Sunday in Homewood and finishes on Lakeside Beach in South Lake Tahoe. On Friday and Saturday, you can run two other marathons or half marathons each day; the Nevada Half Marathon & the Lakeside Marathon on Friday, and the Cal-Neva Marathon & Carnelian Bay Half Marathon on Saturday. Run them a la carte or with the Tahoe Triple Marathoners or Tahoe Trifecta Half Marathoners, including credit for 3 half marathons in the California Half Series.

If you are tough enough, try our 72 Mile Midnight Express Ultra Marathon, or our 3-Day Tahoe Triple Marathon. The Tahoe 72 Mile Ultra is one lap around Lake Tahoe starting at 9 PM and finishing with the regular marathon, while the Tahoe Triple will measure your heart and desire with 3 different marathons in 3 days run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, covering the whole lake and 2 states. Are you tough enough?

And if you are one of the toughest people in the world try our SUPER TRIPLE MARATHON, which is the first two marathons of the Triple, then instead of going to bed on Saturday, running the 72 mile Midnight Express. We also offer the Tahoe Double Dare (2 x 72.2), the Tahoe Triple Dare (3 x 72.2) or the Quadzilla Dare (4 x 72.2) for those hearty runners, with each 72.2 mile ultra marathon lapping the entire lake.

With the exception of the 5K Pumpkin Run-Walk and 10K races, all the runs are point-to-point and scenic from start to finish. The Sunday Lake Tahoe Marathon, 17-Miler, and Half are run along the west shore of Lake Tahoe and include challenging hills around spectacular Emerald Bay. The Emerald Bay Half Marathon begins at Inspiration Point overlooking Emerald Bay, with a very scenic 99% downhill run. The beauty of Lake Tahoe will take your breath away!

Finishers medals are given to all finishers of all races at the finish lines, and finishers shirts to all of our registered athletes at the Fitness Expo.

The first Lake Tahoe Marathon operated by our Ring Leader, Les Wright was run from Fanny Bridge in Tahoe City to Emerald Motel at the South Lake Tahoe city limits.
