Ranked Top 25 US Boston Qualifier Course

Located just 55 miles north of San Francisco, the town of Santa Rosa, California is home to one of the top ranked Boston Qualifier marathons, which boasts a flat and fast course, with excellent weather and a legendary post-race festival that includes wine tastings, farmers markets and a free pancake breakfast.

Santa Rosa is known as wine country and farm country, redwood forests and rivers, lakes and ocean. And in the center, our charming, thriving downtown, lined with intriguing shops and restaurants that delight casual diners and epicureans alike.

The Santa Rosa Marathon will start and finish within a few miles of the Sonoma County Airport (STS). You can fly nonstop to Santa Rosa from Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle on Alaska Airlines.

Santa Rosa has a Mediterranean climate with cool, wet winters and warm, mostly dry summers. In the summer, fog and low overcast often moves in from the Pacific Ocean during the evenings and mornings. It usually clears to warm, sunny weather by late morning or noon before returning in the later evening but will occasionally linger all day.

The primary goal of the Santa Rosa based True Grit Running is to promote and stage a quality, flat, fast, accurate, and festive half and full marathon to be enjoyed by our community, spectators, and all the participants, including walkers, recreational, beginner and competitive runners as they start and finish in picturesque Juilliard Park after looping the entire length of the scenic Santa Rosa Creek Greenway.

The Santa Rosa Marathon is a newly designed out and back course that starts in Juilliard Park in downtown Santa Rosa. The first 2 miles run through scenic Downtown Santa Rosa. It is a flat, fast Boston Qualified course that then continues along the scenic Prince Memorial Greenway. Mile 8 - 19 then goes through beautiful West Sonoma County and runs through De Loach Vineyards and even their barrel room!

The half marathon starts at the same location and completes one loop. The first 2 miles run through Downtown Santa Rosa and end after running the Prince Memorial Greenway and back to Juilliard Park.

The Post Race Festival Includes a free pancake breakfast for all runners, a beer/wine garden, an organic farmer’s market, and inflatable jumpies and games for the kids.
